Currently most African countries have limited capacity in modern biotechnology including functional biotechnology regulatory systems. For this reason, appropriate regulations to guide the application of biotechnology and related research are a necessity. Effective adoption and application of biotechnology hinges on the will of African governments.
ABSF being the umbrella organization representing biotechnology stakeholders recognizes the need for appropriate regulatory mechanisms in the region. The forum therefore works closely with governments, non-governmental organization and commercial entities to facilitate development of policies, laws and regulations that will create an enabling environment for biotechnology adoption.
